GO
Anyone in a Japanese city who wants to request a taxi from a phone instead of hailing one on the street.
- Works in English
- Partly: GO has an English-language site covering setup and fares; in-app screens beyond that are not confirmed here.
- Platforms
- iOS, Android
What it does
An app for requesting a taxi when walking or public transport does not suit the trip. It offers an English-language starting point and in-app payment, but a request still depends on local availability.
Enter a pickup point and destination, request a taxi, then check the assigned vehicle number before getting in. GO’s English site describes international credit-card and Apple Pay support. Its national coverage claim does not mean every address has an immediately available taxi.
The catch
Registration includes phone-number verification. Complete setup before you need a ride and check the pickup point carefully, especially around stations with multiple exits. Read the price information for the ride type shown in the app; a route estimate should not be treated as a universal fixed fare.
Cost and plans
The journey is paid. GO documents meter, pre-fixed and airport fare options. Its help page also explains pickup fees, possible app charges and tolls; the applicable combination depends on the service and area. Check the displayed terms before confirming.
How to get started
- Download GO from the links on its official English website.
- Follow phone verification and payment setup in the app.
- Check pickup and destination, request a ride, and match the assigned vehicle number.
