YenHacks collects money-saving hacks and deals for visitors and people living in Japan, each with a link to where it came from. On Nov 1, 2026 the database held 252 entries: 202 hacks and 50 time-limited deals. 227 were still live and 25 had ended. We counted what they actually offer, how well each one is backed up, and how much they say you save.
What kind of saving
110 of 252 (44%) either cost nothing or take money off a normal price. The biggest single group is “Time, hassle or a costly mistake avoided” (112): skipping a queue, a wasted trip, or a mistake that costs money later, like a frozen bank account or a lost tax refund.

What already ended
25 entries had ended by Nov 1, 2026: 1 with an end date in 2025, 19 with an end date in 2026, 5 retired after a recheck with no end date on record. Their pages stay up, marked as ended.
Method
- Data: every entry in the YenHacks database on Nov 1, 2026, including ones scheduled to appear on the feed in the following days. Counts come from a script run on that date and are not updated, so the numbers on this page stay fixed.
- Live or ended: the site's own rule. An entry has ended if it is marked ended or its end date is before Nov 1, 2026.
- Kind of saving: a keyword pass on each entry's title and saving line (words like free, % off, coupon, points, sale, or a stated price), then a hand check that moved 56 of 252 entries to the right group. "Cheap option" means a low price that is not a discount on something else.
- Stated yen saving: counted only when the saving line itself says how much you save (¥X off, up to ¥X, ¥X back, save ¥X, free ¥X ride, or a before and after price). A price on its own is not a saving. Nothing was estimated or converted from other currencies.
- Backed by an official page: the entry's confidence field is "official", meaning an operator, government or shop page confirms it.
- Ending soon: live entries whose end date falls within 30 or 60 days of Nov 1, 2026. Entries that only say "until the budget runs out" are not counted.
